Squee Warning: Fandom Collision in Progress

Today The Flash announced that Tom Felton of Harry Potter fame will be joining the series as a cast regular.  Now we get to wonder – good guy or bad guy?

Honestly, one of the most awesome things about the DC TV universe is that they seem to revel in cross-fandom friendly casting. Wonder Woman Linda Carter is joining Supergirl to play the President of the United States.  Between Arrow and Legends there are four different members of the Doctor Who cast playing regular or recurring roles.  Heck Arthur Darvill even plays a “Time Master.”

They also don’t shy away from fun winks and nudges to the origins of the actors, especially on The Flash.  When Star Wars’s Mark Hamill played a villain he got to evilly cackle the famous, “I Am Your Father” line.  And the first time Superman Brandon Routh’s character Ray Palmer was introduced it was with the classic “Is that a bird? Is that a plane?”

Yes I’m a nerd.  And it’s so so awesome.

Happy Star Wars Day!

When I was a kid I used to babysit for a family who had about 10 movies in their collection, they didn’t have cable and this was before Netflix, so in the hours after I sent the kids to bed my viewing choices were limited.  But, luckily for me, they had The Empire Strikes Back.

I love them - I just really love them.:

People love Star Wars for a lot of different reasons.  Actually, I love Star Wars for a lot of different reasons, but one of them is very personal, that Han Solo and Princess Leia’s banter kept a teenage babysitter entertained until her employers finally came home.

May the Fourth be with you.

Rogue One : 3 Things I Love About the Trailer

I hadn’t heard about Rogue One: A Star Wars Story until the trailer popped up in my Facebook feed.  Three things I loved :

  1. The look – The locations, the wear and tear, the grimy faces.  This is the Star Wars  I love.
  2. “This is a rebellion, isn’t it? I rebel.”   Fantastic line for summing up a character.
  3.  Unlike so many trailers, it resists the urge to give the entire story line away 🙂
